Live Green and Earn Some Green

We all know that the way we live has an effect on our environment called our carbon footprint. What we make in our homes, the way and how much we travel, the food we eat, and what we buy and throw away all contribute to our footprint. Use The Nature Conservancy’s calculator to measure your own carbon footprint. You will be asked questions like what kind of car you drive, how far you commute, what kind of light bulbs you use, whether you use energy efficient appliances, etc. This is the primary level of a carbon footprint, the use of energy you use for the above mentioned activities. I took the test and came up with an estimated greenhouse gas emissions of 23 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent per year, which is below the U.S. national average of 27.

One of the things I scored somewhat high on was travel and I only commute about 50 miles per day. I do dream of being able to work from home some day which would limit my commuting time. I would also have more time to grow my own food and reduce my clothing purchases. I found a website that offers some home business ideas that are Green Home Businesses. A cool green home based business that you might want to start is selling air purifiers. EcoQuest products help in getting rid of harmful elements in the air we breathe. Check out Ecoquest’s profile and know more about this business opportunity.
